Language Arts: School-Home Links
School-Home Links worksheets are designed to help families reinforce reading and language arts skills needed to help your child learn at school. Please review assigned activities together with your child and sign each worksheet upon completion.
Writing: Practice Daily
Writing activities are encouraged to be done on a daily basis. However, it is important to remember, that with any fine motor skill, young children develop at their own pace. Keep the joy of learning alive! Kindergarten writing practice should be kept to about five minutes a day. Gentle reminders of proper letter formation and celebrating effort and achievement will help develop a happy, confident writer!
- Practice writing first name.
- Practice writing numbers 1 -10.
- Practice writing the letters of the alphabet.
Reading: Story Charts
Dear Parents,
Please use Story Charts to help your child practice reading at home. Help your child point to the words making sure to move from left to right and from the top to the bottom of the page. Help your child to sound out the words as he/she reads with you.
Please practice this activity daily. You will receive new Story Charts as we work on them in our class. Practice the new charts daily as well as reviewing previous story charts. It might be a good idea to put the story charts together in a book for your child to practice.
I know that your child will be successful if we work together to practice reading.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Black
